Updated for 2016 with refreshed styling, plush new interior materials and generous new trim levels, the gorgeous Alfa MiTo isn’t like other superminis.
The MiTo is the perfect compact Alfa Romeo sports car, thanks to its muscular three-door design and unmistakable shield-shaped ‘Scudetto’ grille with new honeycomb inserts.
Every version includes a rear spoiler and dynamic alloy wheels, with larger rims coming on upgraded trim levels. Choose from nine colours to match the MiTo to your personality, and get every last detail right with changes to the headlight surrounds and wing-mirror housings. Speciale and Veloce models add glossy red brake callipers for an even sportier feel.
Settle into the driver’s seat and the MiTo immediately feels special.
The seats hug you in position, with simple, low-set rotary dials controlling the ventilation, and a beautiful three-spoke leather steering wheel that just aches to be held.
It’s no stripped-out racer, though. Luxuries like climate control and a five-inch touchscreen infotainment system come as standard, too. Add leather upholstery to make it feel truly special.
Choose from five engines to power your MiTo. A 78bhp 1.4-litre petrol is offered in standard MiTos, as are a punchy 105bhp TwinAir and a 95bhp diesel. Opt for Super or Speciale trim and the 1.4-litre is a 140bhp heavy-hitter instead.
A fiery 170bhp turbo sprints to 60mph in just over seven seconds and is reserved for those choosing the sportiest Veloce trim. It does mean ‘speed’, after all.
Whichever you choose, standard start/stop technology helps to improve fuel economy, allowing it to reach a distinctly un-sportscarlike 74mpg, with CO2 emissions as low as 99g/km depending on the engine you choose.
A tyre-pressure monitoring system and seven airbags are standard across the range, as are Vehicle Dynamic Control to ensure predictable and safe handling.
The Alfa DNA system comes on the Super trim and above, allowing you to change the MiTo’s behaviour to suit the journey. Switch from Normal to Dynamic for faster throttle response, or All-Weather to ensure the traction control kicks in sooner on slippery surfaces.
Bluetooth connectivity and a DAB digital radio feature on every version, as well, allowing you to take calls safely at the wheel and set the perfect soundtrack every time. Upgrade to the Super trim or above to enjoy cruise control for relaxing long-distance drives.
