New Jeep Cherokee

Conquer everything that difficult weather can throw at you and stay stylish while you’re doing it, in the athletic Jeep Cherokee.

Tough yet stylish, the Jeep Cherokee is equally at home in the city and on rugged off-road terrains. Its grown-up styling makes it stand out as a good-looking SUV, thanks to its curved edges and sloping bonnet.

Still a Jeep at heart, you’ll notice the signature seven-slot grille but it has been updated with a ‘waterfall’ shape, and the headlights with LED running lights have a contemporary slicing shape.

The interior of the Cherokee has won awards for its innovation. It feels luxurious, with soft-touch materials and a minimalistic layout, yet it’s still a practical SUV. There’s storage everywhere there can be, including in the seats, and it has 591 litres in the boot to fill with your sports equipment and bags. Under the floor there’s an extra luggage compartment, which is ideal for storing those electrical items you want out of sight. Upgrade to the Limited if you want luxury; it has a seven-inch TFT instrument display and heated seats covered in Nappa leather.

Engine choices range from a 2.0-litre turbo charged diesel through to a 3.2-litre Pentastar ® V6, the latter of which is only available at the Trailhawk trim level. In the middle sits a 2.2-litre turbo charged diesel powertrain in a choice of 185bhp and 200bhp. It is known as one of the best-performing four-cylinder turbo-diesels around, with an impressive 440Nm of torque at 2,500rpm.

The four-wheel drive system makes it ultra-responsive in all weather conditions. It’s down to the wet-clutch system, which provides just the right amount of torque to avoid skidding on slippery roads. It also has Jeep’s Selec-Terrain™ system with four modes: Auto, Snow, Sport and Sand/Mud, which automatically alters the set-up of up to 12 components for optimum performance. Trailhawk variants get another mode – Rock.

Technology and safety

While you’re travelling, you can listen to any music you choose and make calls via the Uconnect™ system. This is controlled either through voice commands or using a high-resolution five-inch touchscreen in the centre of the dashboard (it’s up to 8.4-inches at some trim levels). From Longitude+ upwards, it comes with navigation too, and if you upgrade to the Limited you will get a charging pad in the central console for your phone. Rear parking sensors come as standard to prevent you from scraping the 4x4 when you’re navigating tight spaces, and the Limited variant has a ParkView® rear-view camera.
The Cherokee has been awarded five stars by Euro NCAP for its safety credentials – there are more than 60 safety and security features. It has, for example, a coaching system that trains you in the safest way to drive the 4x4 on all roads.
